SEVILLE—If you build it, they will come. Just ask Dave Matejczyk who has his own ‘Field of Dreams.’

“15-year anniversary of our field here,” he said. The field is located behind the home of Dave Matejczyk in Seville. “It’s always busy around here,” said Dave’s son Danny.

“Oh yeah, pretty intense, we stick with it,” said neighbor John Artrip.

Baseball runs deep in the Matejczyk family.

“I grew up in a little town of Pennsylvania called Cambridge Springs,” said Dave. “We had a sandlot across the street called Ross Avenue Field and I wanted to recreate something like that.”

Dave did, with his own Wiffle ball field.

“Left field is 63, right field is 75 and dead center is 110, 120,” said Danny.

The field has it all from the American flag in center field, to the bases, the mound, home plate and even the foul poles, and that’s not all.

“We have 18 lights in total so this place does get lit up pretty well and we’re looking to add a couple more to,” Danny said.

The field comes with its own grounds crew.

“I usually do the raking and my dad usually does the lines,” said Danny.

There are no set game days, in fact, most games come together at the last minute.

“We like to play when the sun comes down a little bit, 6:30-7:00 they get started,” Dave said.

Every ball park in America has its own set of ground rules and this field is no different.

“All games are 3 innings long there is a run limit of 5 runs per inning except the last inning is unlimited, no games can start after 10:30 at night except during the Seville yard sale, no Yankee gear allowed on the field, sorry,” said Dave.

Yankee Stadium might be known as the house that Ruth built, but in Seville, it’s the house that Dave built.
