CLEVELAND (AP) — Matt Wieters, playing his first game in over a year after elbow surgery, had two hits and two RBIs, and Adam Jones hit a tie-breaking home run, leading the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.
Chris Tillman (3-7) won for the first time since April 18, allowing two runs in 6 1-3 innings.
Wieters’ double over the head of left fielder David Murphy in the fourth scored Chris Davis for the game’s first run. He added a single in the sixth and a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
The three-time All-Star catcher played for first time since May 10 of last season, when he was shut down because of a sore right elbow. Wieters had Tommy John surgery on June 17.
Jones’ leadoff homer in the sixth off Shaun Marcum (2-1) landed in the left field bleachers and broke a 2-2 tie. Jones added an RBI triple in the eighth.
