CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland stopped the Boston Red Sox’s 7-game win streak behind the pitching of Justin Masterson on Monday night en route to a 3-2 victory.

Cleveland got the offense going right from the start when Lonnie Chisenhall drove in 2 with a first-inning single.

Cleveland added a third run in the bottom of the second when Asdrubal Cabrera singled home Michael Bourn.

Meanwhile, Masterson was masterful through 7 innings. He pitched out of trouble in the first and settled down. He posted a strong line; only 3 hits allowed and shutout baseball. He struck out 10 batters.

The bullpen faltered a bit in the 8th inning when Bryan Shaw was touched by a 2-run Xander Bogaerts home run.

That was the end of the drama.

Marc Rzepczynski relieved Shaw and ended the 8th and Cody Allen earned the save in the ninth.

Both teams meet again on Tuesday night.
