CLEVELAND, Ohio—The Cleveland Browns’ 2011 season was tormenting for Browns fans. The season story was one that everyone is used to hearing, as the Browns ended the season the way they began, with a home loss to a division rival.

Cleveland has now lost at least 10 games in seven of the last eight seasons.

Even after opening up the season against struggling franchises like Cincinnati, Miami, Tennessee, and Oakland, the Browns couldn’t overcome the shortened training camp, a new West Coast offense with a new head coach and offensive coordinator, and a new defensive scheme.

Averaging roughly 13 points a game, the Browns’ offensive couldn’t carry its own weight.

Today, Head Coach Pat Shurmur said he will hire an offensive coordinator next season.

When asked if he is considering hiring Brad Childress, a coach who shares the same agent, Shurmur said they are very good friends but is leaving his options open.

Coach Shurmur said there are only two starting positions guaranteed for next season.

“At all positions, other than left tackle Joe Thomas and Joe Haden’s, there will be competition this off season,” Shurmur said.

With two first round draft picks many are asking if the Browns will pick up a quarterback.

Colt McCoy made 13 starts under center before missing the final three games with a concussion.

The Browns now have a better idea of what kind of quarterback he can be and don’t be surprised if the Browns stick with their young arm and try to build him more of a supporting staff.

“I am expecting the quarterbacks here to develop and the best one will play,” Shurmur said today in his press conference.

The Browns will select fourth in the upcoming NFL Draft.

General Manager Tom Heckert and President Mike Holmgren will address the media on Thursday with more on what the Browns are looking for in the draft.
