CLEVELAND — It has been a tough season for the Cleveland Browns punt and kickoff return teams.

Browns punt returners are averaging an NFL low 3.2 yards per return.

The trio of Travis Benjamin, Jordan Poyer and Jim Leonhard have also fumbled a total of four times, including Poyer’s muff at the two-yard line in Jacksonville that helped the Jaguars beat the Browns 24-6, for their first and only win of 2014.

Rookie first round draft pick Justin Gilbert had six kickoff returns for touchdowns at Oklahoma State, but so far, the Browns have been reluctant to use Gilbert in the return game.

Now many Browns fans are calling for the return of the team’s all-time leading kick and punt returner, Josh Cribbs.

Cribbs has 11 career return touchdowns, including an NFL record 8 kickoff return touchdowns.

He made the Pro Bowl three times for his special teams exploits, during his eight seasons in Cleveland.

The Browns and Cribbs parted ways in March 2013.

He spent parts of the 2013 season with the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets, before suffering a shoulder injury, but has yet to play in 2014.

So what do you think?

Should the Browns sign Josh Cribbs to help the team’s struggling special teams?
