Shaker Heights continued its strong start to the 2012 season with a lopsided 35-0 shutout win over Cleveland John F. Kennedy.

The Red Raiders, coming off a disastrous 2-8 record in 2011, nearly pulled a stunning upset at Solon in week one, and proved it was not a fluke with a dominating defensive performance against the overmatched Eagles.

Senior quarterback Jimmie Pope tossed a rainbow touchdown pass to Derek Burgess in the first quarter, as the Red Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead.  Pope would run for another score early in the third quarter, as Shaker put the game away. Red Raiders speedster Greg Claytor also scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half as Shaker put the game out of reach.

Shaker Heights (1-1) travels to Cleveland Central Catholic (1-1) on Saturday, Sept. 8 for a 1:00 pm kickoff, while JFK (0-2) opens Senate League action against Rhodes (2-0) on Friday, Sept. 7 at 3:00 pm.
