Berea, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns will fly down to Miami this weekend to face the Dolphins, and they will trot out their third quarterback of the season in the third game of the regular season.

Cody Kessler starts Sunday for the injured Robert Griffin III who has a broken bone in his left shoulder, and for the injured Josh McCown who is recovering from a shoulder/clavicle injury suffered Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

“I don’t know if it has or hasn’t (sunk in that he is starting) I’ve just been sticking to myself, working hard and staying in my playbook and watching film,” Kessler said Wednesday ahead of the team’s first practice of the week.

Kessler will make his NFL debut against the Dolphins. He was drafted in the third round (93rd overall) by the Browns in this past year’s NFL Draft. He will be the 26th different starting quarterback for the Browns since the team returned to the league in 1999.

“I don’t think he’s ready on Wednesday,” said left tackle Joe Thomas. “He’ll definitely be ready on Sunday. He’s really studious, he’s been studying to be the starter since he got here.”

Kessler becomes the fifth different starting quarterback for the Browns in five straight games dating back to last year. Talk about finding any sort of rhythm with so much turnover at one position, not to mention the changes on the offense line like John Greco playing Center for the injured Cam Erving.

“That’s the beautiful thing about football,” said wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. “Guys are willing to do whatever to win, it may not look like that because of our record right now but I can assure you we are going to get there.”

Miami (0-2) is favored by 10 on Sunday as they hold their home opener.
