Ohio State falls to Clemson in Fiesta Bowl; 29-23


GLENDALE, Az. (WJW/AP) — No. 3 Clemson beat No. 2 Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl Saturday night. (29-23)

The teams battled for a spot in the College Football Playoff national championship game.

Early in the first quarter, Blake Haubiel kicked a 21-yard field goal putting three points on the board.

Minutes later J.K. Dobbins ran 68-yards for the Bucks first touchdown.

It didn’t take long before he landed another TD breaking the single season rushing record.

Clemson finally scored their first touchdown in the second quarter with help from Travis Etienne.

The Buckeyes kept the lead heading into the second half.

Clemson came out swinging in the third quarter with Travis Etienne nabbing his second TD of the game. (21-16)

In the fourth, Justin Fields threw a 28-yard pass to help the Buckeyes get their lead back.

Unfortunately, it didn’t last long.

With two minutes left on the clock, Travis Etienne  scored his third touchdown for Clemson.

Ohio State made one last final attempt for a TD thrown by Justin Fields, but it was intercepted by Nolan Turner.

Clemson will now play LSU in the CFP national championship game in New Orleans on Jan. 13.
