CLEVELAND- Kevin Love has been busy over the last several days. He announced he’s staying in Cleveland, he appeared in ESPN Magazine’s “Body Issue,” and he officially re-signed with the Cavaliers.
On Thursday, Love released a video on The Players’ Tribune. In the clip called “Chase What You Love,” the power forward speaks about meeting with LeBron James in the off season and bringing a championship in Cleveland.
Love told Cavs general manager David Griffin and head coach David Blatt during his exit meetings that he was planning to reach out to James. The two superstars happened to be in Los Angeles at the same time so they chatted by the pool.
“So, we just talked everything out and a lot of stuff was very honest and we came to a really good place and we agreed on a lot of things. So I think that was also a very big deal when, you know, you’re talking to the best player in the world,” Love said.
The 26-year-old also said LeBron, no stranger to big free-agency decisions himself, could provide valuable insight.
“Every time I went through the different scenarios, I always came out at the same place: and that was to be in Cleveland and try to win championships. And you know, I would be able to really help this team win and going forward make a very big impact on this team and on this city, trying to bring a championship or championships.”
Love had a lot of praise for Cavaliers and a city that loves their athletes.
“I just felt Cleveland was, and Cleveland has been, at the end of the day, always came out the same place – the right place.”
