Indians Beat Blue Jays, 3-0

CLEVELAND– The Cleveland Indians rebounded from their rough Monday night loss to the Detroit Tigers by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0, Tuesday night.

After a rain delay of about 40 minutes, pitchers Josh Johnson and Ubaldo Jimenez began their duel.

The Indians struck for two runs in the 4th inning.  Nick Swisher drove in the first run with a single that plated Asdrubal Cabrera. Michael Brantley singled to right to bring home Jason Kipnis.

Jimenez pitched 6 outstanding innings. He allowed only 5 hits and struck out 4 batters.  He pitched out of a few jams to keep the Jays from doing any damage.

Cody Allen pitched a scroreless 7th inning and Joe Smith came on in the 8th and blanked the Jays.

Chris Perez came on in the ninth to record his 10th save, though he made it a little interesting by surrendering two base hits.

Game two of the series is Wednesday night.
