GATES MILLS – It was billed as a battle of two potential Playoff contenders, but unbeaten Loudonville dominated Gilmour from the opening kickoff, and cruised to a dominating 53-13 road victory Saturday.
Senior quarterback Kolton Edmondson ran for three touchdowns and threw for three more as the Red Birds raced out to a 47-0 lead at halftime.
Gilmour quarterback Connor Lesko was under constant pressure all afternoon and was sacked at least seven times by the Loudonville defense in the first half, alone.
The Lancers did score two late touchdowns behind backup quarterback Spencer Cira.
The loss drops Gilmour to 7-2 on the season.
The Lancers could still secure a home Playoff game with a win in week #10 at Youngstown Christian (1-8).
Loudonville (9-0) is ranked No. 3 in the most recent Division VI AP Poll.
The Red Birds are one of five undefeated teams in Region 19, along with defending State Champion Kirtland (9-0) and three-time State Champion Mogadore (9-0).
Loudonville can finish off a perfect regular season with a win at Shelby (2-7) on Halloween.
