The Friday Night Touchdown crew welcomed Fox 8 News In The Morning co-anchor Kristi Capel to the set! She traveled to Strongsville to see the Mustangs fall to the Elyria Pioneers 24-21 in overtime. Elyria scored on a 55 yard touchdown run by Chris Atkinson on their first play from scrimmage. They were up 14-0 after the first quarter and 14-10 at the half.
The Pioneers Atkinson found the endzone again on a 30 yard score in the 3rd quarter but the Mustangs wouldn’t go away. Strongsville scored a touchdown with 1:11 left in the game to tie it up. The game went into overtime where the Pioneers won it on a field goal.
Elyria plays Mentor next week as Strongsville will play Brunswick.
