Week #2 of FOX 8’s Emmy Awarding Winning ‘Friday Night Touchdown‘ kicks off Friday, August 31st at 11:00 p.m.

Thank you for your help selecting MAYFIELD at WILLOUGHBY SOUTH as the FOX8.com Game of the Week #2.

Each week during the 2012 high school football season, we will nominate four area games to receive extended coverage both on air, and online, on the Friday Night Touchdown webpage.

Students, staff, players, coaches, fans and FOX 8 viewers are invited to vote for their favorite school or game.

FOX 8 Reporter Dan Jovic will provide extended coverage of the winning game on Friday night.

Voting is now closed.

Here were the nominees:

A. GLENVILLE at SOLON: Turnovers doomed the Tarblooders against St. Edward in Week #1, while the Comets scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes to avoid a shocking upset to Shaker Heights.

B. PAINESVILLE HARVEY at KIRTLAND:  The Red Raiders could not contain Chanel’s ground game last Friday. Now they have to contend with RB Damon Washington and the reigning Division V State Champion Hornets.

C. MAYFIELD at WILLOUGHBY SOUTH:  The Wildcats’ kicking game let them down against Nordonia, but QB Drazen Markovic made the winning plays in overtime. South had little trouble with NDCL, as the Runnin’ Rebel, All-Ohio RB Kareem Hunt ran wild.

D. BEDFORD at EASTLAKE NORTH:  The Bearcats opened eyes last week, rallying from an early 14-deficit to rout Olmsted Falls, while the Rangers’ offense struggled against an improved Brush squad.
