(WJW) — FOX 8’s award-winning ‘Friday Night Touchdown’ is back for its 27th season and better than ever.

Week #6 of ‘Friday Night Touchdown’ airs this Friday, September 22 at 11p.m.

The polls are closed and the next FOX 8 Game of the Week of the 2023 season is Walsh Jesuit at St. Vincent-St. Mary.

It’s a Summit County showdown between longtime rivals.

Walsh Jesuit (5-0) has won the last two meetings.

The Warriors also bring a nine-game regular season winning streak into Cistone Field, which is named after St. VM’s current head coach Terry Cistone’s legendary father, John, who led the Irish to four state championships

St. Vincent-St. Mary (4-1) is coming off a big shutout win over NDCL last week and the Irish defense is only allowing 15.6 points per game.

Both teams are in the top six in the Region 5 playoff rankings, so Friday’s winner will take a big step toward clinching both a playoff berth and a home game in the first round.

Join P.J. Ziegler, Ken Carman, John Telich, the Commissioner Dan Coughlin and new addition John Sabol, every Friday night for 30 minutes of highlights and analysis from the biggest high school football games across Northeast Ohio.

Each week during the 2023 high school football regular season we will nominate four great match-ups for our FOX 8 Game of the Week.

We will announced the winning game live every Thursday night on FOX 8 News at 10 p.m.
