(WJW) —FOX 8’s award-winning Friday Night Touchdown is back for its 27th season and better than ever.

Week #9 of Friday Night Touchdown airs this Friday, Oct. 13 at 11 p.m.

The polls are closed and the next FOX 8 Game of the Week of the 2023 season is Rocky River at Bay.

It’s a battle for first place in the Great Lakes Conference West Division.

Both teams have won all five of their conference games to clinch OHSAA Playoff spots in Division III, Region 10.

Rocky River (7-1) is averaging 44 points per game, and the only team to hold the Pirates under 30 points this season was undefeated Sandusky Perkins back in Week #3.

Bay (7-1) relies on a stout defense that is only allowing 12.5 points per game and has two shutouts, but the Rockets also have an explosive offense that has scored 40 points three times.

Last year’s meeting went down the final moments with Bay edging River, 22-21.

Whoever wins Friday night will clinch a share of the GLC West Division Championship, as well as a home playoff game in the first round.

Join P.J. Ziegler, Ken Carman, John Telich, the Commissioner Dan Coughlin, and new addition John Sabol, every Friday night for 30 minutes of highlights and analysis from the biggest high school football games across Northeast Ohio.

Each week during the 2023 high school football regular season we will nominate four great match-ups for our FOX 8 Game of the Week.

We will announce the winning game live every Thursday night on FOX 8 News at 10 p.m.
