CLEVELAND HEIGHTS – Maple Heights scored first, but more importantly, the Mustangs scored last against Cleveland Heights Saturday, with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win 27-14.
Kierre Hawkins scored two touchdowns for Maple Heights (3-2).
The junior opened the scoring with a 34-yard run in the first quarter, then Hawkins put Maple ahead for good with a short run in the final frame.
Cleveland Heights (1-4) tied the game at 14-all on Marquis Watkins’ touchdown run in the third quarter, but the Tigers did not score again.
Maple returns home in week #6 to host Warrensville Heights (1-4), another win could move the Mustangs back into playoff position.
Cleveland Heights welcomes Euclid (2-3) in a big game for both teams, who desperately need a victory to stay alive in the Lake Erie League.
