The Chardon Hilltoppers advance to the next round of the playoffs after beating the Kenston Bombers 34 to 15. After a scoreless first quarter Chardon would open up the scoring with a Riley Hawkins touchdown run to begin the second quarter. The Bombers would answer quickly with a short Darryl Richards touchdown run to tie the game at 7. On the Hilltoppers next drive they would face a third and fifteen at Kenston’s thirty one yard line. Chardon would call a screen play that found pay dirt for a 31-yard touchdown to put Chardon on top 14-7. The Hilltoppers would add a late field goal to give them a 17-7 halftime lead.
Chardon would open up the second half just as they ended the first half by putting more points on the board. Alex Muir scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to put them on top 24-7. Kenston would fire right back with a 73-yard touchdown pass to Brian Brezovec and Lombardi would run in a two point conversion to bring the Bombers within nine. It would be the last points Kenston would score as Chardon advances to the Division 2 Region 5 final next week against Aurora.
