CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland-based T-shirt company is now selling a T-shirt that pokes fun at something Toronto Blue Jays players said about Ryan Merritt when he pitched during the ALCS.

The Fresh Brewed Tees shirt says: Fear the boots.

It all leads back to Game 5 of the ALCS, when Merritt became the second pitcher in major league history to start a postseason game after only one regular-season start. He started after Trevor Bauer’s now-infamous drone injury.

Before the game, six-time MLB All-Star Jose Bautista said Merritt would be “shaking in his boots.”

The 24-year-old ended up with three strike-outs and allowing two hits in four innings. After the game, he said he didn’t take Bautista’s remarks seriously.

“Going into today, I told myself to have fun, enjoy the moment, don’t try to do too much, be yourself, trust in your team, trust in yourself and just go out there and compete,” he said.
