INDEPENDENCE, Ohio- There were lots of laughs and inside jokes as the Cleveland Cavaliers held their media day at Cleveland Clinic Courts on Monday.

Iman Shumpert and JR Smith yelled back and forth across the court during their interviews, while Russians Sasha Kaun and Timofey Mozgov showed each other a great deal of respect. But LeBron James was the center of attention.

“I feel just as healthy as I did my rookie year,” LeBron James said with a big smile on his face to the chuckles of reporters.

The Cavs lost to the Warriors in the NBA Finals, but are the favorites to win the Eastern Conference and are second in ESPN’s power rankings.

“What happened last year is last year,” James said. “What we can build off of is chemistry.”

The season ended with a lot of injuries, including Kevin Love’s dislocated left shoulder and a fracture to Kyrie Irving’s knee.

“With me and Kevin and Kyrie, I think we can do something special for this town,” center Anderson Varejao said.

Cleveland was busy with contract talks this summer. The team re-signed James, Love, Smith, Shumpert and Matthew Dellavedova, plus brought back point guard Mo Williams.

The future of free agent Tristan Thompson remains unclear. He was absent from Monday’s activities.
