BEREA, Ohio -- Day No. 1 of Browns training camp is in the books.
A full house watched as the Browns completed their first workout of the new season and as expected all eyes were on the quarterbacks, Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel.
"I thought they both did some really good things that highlighted what they did well, and they both made mistakes," said head coach Mike Pettine. "Some of it's not on the same page with the receivers who may have gone the wrong way, but I thought it was a solid start for both of them."

Brian Hoyer, as expected, took the majority of snaps with the No. 1 offense and was supporting a brace on his right knee. Hoyer, the favorite to win the starting quarterback job, said the brace will be part of his daily uniform.
"For me, it will be something I wear the whole year," he said. "Not just for the stability of the knee but getting hit from the side, that's something I can benefit from."
Johnny Manziel got his first taste of how passionate Cleveland Browns fans are as he took the field for his first NFL training camp. While he is still settling into his new role as a quarterback in the National Football League, he's also learning he's not a typical 21-year-old.
"Age is not an excuse," Manziel said. "I need to mature, and I have done some immature things, moving forward I'm trying to mature and get better and handle myself better as a professional and that's all I can really say about that, but my life is incredible, and I'm blessed to be in this position."
"Hopefully Johnny can look at guys like LeBron (James) and (Tom) Brady and Peyton (Manning) and (Derek) Jeter and pattern himself after those guys who make their news on the field and not off the field," said Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
Before Saturday's practice, the Browns placed TE Gary Barnidge, TE MarQueis Gray, G John Greco and DT Phil Taylor on non-football injury list.
The team returns to the practice field Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and is sold out to the public.
