TAMPA BAY – The Cleveland Browns defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-7 in Saturday’s preseason game.

The Browns got on the board early, with Travis Benjamin scoring a touchdown within the first two minutes of play with a 52-yard punt return.

Just a few minutes later, quarterback Josh McCown connected with Brian Hartline to score once again.

Early in the second quarter, Mayfield native Carey Spear kicked a field goal, extending the lead to 17-0.

Tampa Bay was able to get on the board during the second quarter, closing the gap to 17-7.

The Browns didn’t slow down when the second half started, scoring two more times in the third quarter.

There wasn’t much action in the fourth quarter, as Thad Lewis came in for Josh McCown.

Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel did not play in Saturday’s game because of  soreness in his right elbow. He’s also been sidelined for the last exhibition game on September 3rd in Chicago.

The Browns signed quarterback Pat Devlin on Thursday. Devlin is 6’3″ tall and 220 pounds. Josh McCown started for the Browns, Devlin did not play.
