INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The one that got away.

The Browns were looking for their first winning streak of 2012 and first since last September, but costly mistakes doomed the team who lost to Indianapolis 17-13, dropping Cleveland to 1-6 on the season.

With new owner Jimmy Haslam III looking on, the Browns fell behind early on an Andrew Luck touchdown run which gave the Colts a 7-0 lead.

The Browns responded with a score of their own when Brandon Weeden hit Greg Little for the 14-yard touchdown pass, but the hold by Reggie Hodges on the extra point led to a botched point after attempt and Indianapolis had a 7-6 lead; the Browns were chasing that single point all game.

The Browns trailed 14-6 at the half but quickly climbed back into the game when Josh Gordon caught a beautiful Brandon Weeden pass which went for a 33-yard touchdown to pull the Browns within one at 14-13.

Gordon is the first Browns rookie with a TD reception in 3 straight games since Andre’ Davis in 2002.

The Browns had a chance to take the lead and perhaps seal a victory in Indianapolis but Josh Gordon dropped what would have been a 41-yard touchdown pass from Weeden in the end zone after losing the ball in the sun.

Luck finished the day throwing for 186 yards and ran for two touchdowns. Weeden was 24 of 40 for 247 yards and two touchdowns.

The Browns return home next Sunday to face the San Diego Chargers who were off on Sunday.

Kick-off from Cleveland Browns Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
