BEREA, Ohio– As the winless Cleveland Browns continue to struggle, head coach Hue Jackson is looking for anyone who can help turn the team’s fortune around.

But on Wednesday, that included a controversial former college coach.

Ex-Baylor head coach Art Briles was spotted on the practice field in Berea, keeping a close eye on Browns quarterbacks. Briles was fired in May after an investigating found the school’s football program did not properly handle allegations of sexual assault by players.

He was also named in a federal lawsuit by a woman who said Baylor ignored her reports of rape.

Briles was dismissed from the suit, but those claims were refiled on Wednesday.

Jackson said he asked for permission to bring the coach into camp and it was granted.

“What happened at Baylor is at Baylor… I think everybody deserves an opportunity to kind of do what they do. I respect everybody’s feelings and I don’t condone anything or not, but that is not for me to judge,” Jackson said.

Jackson said he still has a strong stance on character, especially when it comes to people within the Cleveland Browns organization. He also stressed Briles was at practice just as a guest.

Jackson said the opportunity to pick Briles’ brain and have him around to talk offense was important to him.

There are several former Baylor Bears on the Browns offense, including rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman and veteran quarterback Robert Griffin III. RGIII is on the injured reserve for a shoulder injury, while Coleman fractured his hand during practice last month.

Suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon, who checked himself into rehab in September, also attended Baylor University.
