AVON, Ohio- Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was involved in a roadside argument with his girlfriend on Monday, according to the Avon Police Department.

It happened at about 6 p.m. on Interstate 90 westbound near the Nagel Road ramp.

The report said a witness saw a white Nissan speeding and a female passenger trying to open the door. When police arrived, Manziel and his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, were outside of their car.

Manziel told the officer the two had been drinking in downtown Cleveland earlier in the day. The report said the couple argued and Crowley threw Manziel’s wallet out the window, and that’s why he pulled over.

The officer found a small cut on Crowley’s arm, the police report said. Manziel told Avon police Crowley tried to get out of the car, but he grabbed her arm to pull her back in.

According to the police report, Browns linebacker Paul Kruger also arrived at the scene because he was passing by.

The Cleveland Browns released the following statement from general manager Ray Farmer:

“We were aware of the situation. It is a matter that we take seriously and have expressed our concerns to Johnny directly. Those conversations will remain private and we will refrain from further comment at this time.”

Manziel addressed the incident on his verified Twitter account.

Crowley also posted about it on her Instagram page Friday evening, saying, “It was just an argument.”

No charges were filed and no one was arrested.

In January, Manziel entered a treatment facility, where he was visited by head coach Mike Pettine.

Manziel is in his second NFL season. He started in the Browns win against Tennessee while filling in for the injured Josh McCown. The former Heisman Trophy winner was 8 for 15 with two touchdowns.

The Browns, 2-3, play the Broncos, 5-0, at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday.
