CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s a boy!
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is celebrating the birth of an eastern black rhinoceros calf. His July 1 birth marks the third generation of rhinos at the zoo.
The still unnamed baby rhino is the son of Kibibbi, 8, and Jimma, 22, and grandson of the zoo’s other female rhino, Inge. They all live in the African Savanna exhibit.
Weighing in at about 80 pounds at birth, the calf is growing fast. Now, he’s tipping the scales at 150 pounds. By the time he’s fully grown, he’ll weigh a whopping 3,000 pounds!
The zoo needs your help to name the adorable rhino baby. Cast your vote HERE, then view the results on August 10, when the winning name is revealed!
