Paprikash over Dumplings

Dumplings:

  • 2 c flour
  • 4 eggs 
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • Water

 

Mix flour, eggs, salt and baking power in bowl. Add water until batter blisters, the longer the beating, the lighter the dumplings. Drop from tip of spoon into salted boiling water. Cook until the come to top.

 

Chicken Paprikash:

  • 8-9 pieces of chicken                
  • Pepper/salt to taste
  • Oil or butter                           
  • 1 onion finely chopped              
  • 3T flour
  • 1 T. garlic                                  
  • 1 ctn. sour cream
  • Chicken stock  and 2 bouillon cubes.
  • 1/4 cup paprika

 

Heat oil add chopped onion and garlic, add paprika and chicken and brown. Add chicken broth and cubes to chicken, enough to cover chicken. Cover and cook until chicken is tender. Add pepper and salt to taste.

Place chicken on serving dish. Moisten 3T. flour with water and stir into sauce. Cook until boiling. Let sauce cool slightly then add sour cream and stir until blended. Place chicken back into pot. Serve over dumplings.
