CLEVELAND — Four workers were hurt Thursday night when high winds blasted the scaffolding they were working on, stranding them 10 stories up at the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building.
Larry Gray, spokesperson for the Cleveland Fire Department, tells Fox 8 News the men were trying to get down from the building at East 9th Street and Lakeside Avenue, when they saw the storm moving in.
As the winds picked up, the guide wires became tangled and prevented the workers from going down any further. One side of the scaffolding dropped lower than the other during the process, causing it to bang against the building as the workers held on for dear life.
Gray said one worker managed to get down by himself while the other three waited for firefighters to pull them to safety through a window.
All four workers were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for minor injuries.
