CLEVELAND --“It’s a beautiful day today, it really is,” said Pierette Taylor of Cleveland.

Looks can be deceiving. The bright sunshine we saw on Sunday was a welcome relief in Northeast Ohio but that doesn’t tell the whole story as temperatures hovered near 20 degrees all day long.

“As soon as it gets below 20, it’s all the same to me,” said Erick Rodriguez of Cleveland.

The cold snap we experienced the past few days is set to move out of town and warmer, more seasonable-like temperatures are set to move in as early as Monday.

“I don’t mind but I don’t like when it’s warm one day and then cold the next day,” said John Tokarzzyk of Cleveland.

When temperatures dip well below freezing many people decide to stay home or find someplace warm to go, but not everyone has that luxury. Some are forced to work in these frigid conditions.

“Honestly, I’m not a fan of the cold, much like it better in the summer,” said Justin Lavender, a field technician for DIRECTV.

Lavender works six days a week for 10 hours, many of those spent outdoors.

“Biggest thing we face, is frost bite, our hands get cold real quick, feet get cold, so you just have to keep warm,” Lavender said.

The bitter cold temperatures had many thinking about the beach, the beach at Edgewater Park.

“Just a little stroll, check it out, you don’t get to see the lake like this every day,” Rodriguez said.

“Taking advantage of it,” said Aaron Smith. “It’s beautiful out here, nice weather, it’s not snowing like crazy, so get out here and enjoy myself.”

The bitter cold weekend was a strong reminder of how lucky we have had it this winter when it comes to the weather and for some it warmed the idea of life without winter.

“They (cold) forced me to move to Florida next year, I can’t stand it no more, it hurts my bones,” Taylor said.
