KALAMAZOO, Michigan– It’s absolutely heartbreaking. A woman’s fiancé and mother were killed in a car crash as they came to be with her at the hospital.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that Crystal Matrau-Belt found out the horrific news after giving birth to her baby boy, Jeremiah. Her fiancé and mom were driving together when he lost control of the car and hit a tree. Authorities said speed was a factor in the crash.

“Losing two of the most important people in my life at the same time as bringing a child into the world, it’s like happy and the most heartbreaking thing. I waited so long to be able to have a child, and to have a child but then have two things ripped out of my life; it’s just really hard to deal with and even process,” Matrau-Belt told the Kalamazoo Gazette.

She also said her last communication with her fiancé was a text. It said, “Do you want me to bring up anything?” and “I’ll meet you up there” and he told her he loved her.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help Crystal and Jeremiah.
