CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland police released revised details Thursday evening surrounding the tragic death of a woman who was killed in a carjacking.

Police originally said the woman, her husband and two children were dropping off a donation at a church on Archwood Avenue Thursday afternoon. Police had said they left their vehicle running and two suspects entered it.

Police now now say the victims were inside the church and were painting at the time of the initial incident.  The car was not left running; the ignition was damaged due to the theft.

The mother and father both tried to intervene and, in the struggle, the 33-year-old woman was struck by the vehicle, according to police.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The children were not injured.

Police say the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle and bailed on Denison.

Cleveland police say it was determined that the male who was taken into custody was not involved in the crime. No arrests have been made. This case remains under investigation.
