MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a woman was injured after being hit by a semi-truck on I-71 North near State Route 3.

It happened before 8 a.m. Wednesday, with the highway reopening to traffic just before noon after being closed for hours.

Troopers said that after arriving on scene, the woman was being treated by EMS for her injuries. They reportedly found a car parked on the side of the road near the incident they believe belonged to her. The woman was reportedly seen walking in northbound lanes before being struck, troopers said.

The woman was taken to the hospital for what OSHP is calling serious injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
