WELLINGTON, Ohio — A woman was hit by a car and killed just outside the Lorain County Fair Sunday night.
The victim was a 38-year-old Lorain woman. Her name has not been released.
According to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at about 9 p.m. on Fairgrounds Road. When crews arrived, they found the woman in the roadway. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
Witnesses were able to provide information that the vehicle that hit the woman was a blue or black newer model Ford Mustang. All area departments were given a description of the vehicle.
At just before 9:30 p.m., it was learned that a vehicle matching the description hit a mailbox on state Route 18. Then at around 10 p.m., the possible vehicle stopped at the Burger King in Wellington after leaving the scene of a third crash in the area of U.S. Route 20 and state Route 58.
The driver was identified as Gregg Box, 61, of Strongsville. He was arrested and faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, felony leaving the scene of an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and drug possession.
