CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio– For the past five years, you could find Carrie Viewig behind the counter at the McDonald’s in Concord Township.

But, she would rather be behind a microphone. Viewig is a semi-finalist in the Voice of McDonald’s worldwide competition. She is one of 25 contestants from North America.

Currently, Viewig is a music major at Kent State. “I love to perform. And, my goal in life is to get a record contract and make performing my life, make a living doing it. And, just make people happy through music,” Viewig said.

This is the third time she has entered the contest and the second time she has made it the semi-final round.

Her McDonald’s co-workers are fully supporting her. “First of all, she’s a great person. She’s a wonderful employee and she’s an awesome artist. I’m pretty sure she’s going to win,” McDonald’s Supervisor Carol Elliott said.

Cassi Kalley of Painesville viewed Viewig’s singing entry online and was impressed. “I think she has a great voice and I think that she has a great look. We’re really proud of her and happy she is right in our backyard,” she said.

Online voting continues until December 2.

Only the top three contestants from the United States will move on to the next round and compete with 16 global finalists.
