ARMENIA – After Samuel Forrest found out his son Leo had Down syndrome he was shocked, he was even more shocked when his wife told him to choose between their marriage or their son.

But now Forrest’s wife is saying she never gave him that ultimatum.

Forrest originally told ABC News his wife told him to choose, but Ruzan Badalyan posted on her Facebook page that choosing what do to was the “hardest moment” of her life.

Badalyan says in her post that a demand was never made and she wanted to discuss Leo’s future with her husband, but wasn’t given the opportunity to.

“I faced two options: to take care of the child on my own in Armenia, or to abandon my maternal instincts and extend the baby an opportunity to enjoy a decent life with his father in New Zealand. I went for the second option,”  Badalyan says in her post.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help raise money to take Leo back to New Zealand, it has raised nearly half a million dollars as of Saturday.
