CLEVELAND -- Bond was set at $1 million for a woman charged in connection with a bizarre stabbing that left another woman and a 2-year-old girl dead.

Kimberly Black, 29, was also ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

Charged with murder, Black appeared in Cleveland Municipal Court on Monday morning.

Police say the incident in question started on East 125th Street at approximately 9 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses tell Fox 8 News that Black was sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by Sharice Swain, also 29.

Without warning, Black started stabbing Swain, then got out of the car. According to the police report, Swain was cut from ear to ear with a one-inch-deep wound.

Bayshaun East was sitting on his front porch across the street.

"I mean, they wasn't even arguing or nothing," said East. "The girls wasn't arguing. (Black) just flipped out and got this knife, and got to stabbing the girl while she was sitting in the driver's seat."

East says Black then got out of the car, went inside the house and came out with a bigger knife. He told Fox 8 News that Black then stripped off all of her clothes, grabbed two of her children and ran out into the street.

Swain, who was bleeding profusely, punched the gas and took off out of the driveway, hitting the children before crashing through a chain link fence and into the porch where East had been sitting.

"Just a couple seconds, and all hell broke loose. Just a couple of quick seconds," said East.

Witnesses say Black, still naked, then took her children, Taraji Ruffin, 1, and Kimshia Ruffin, 2, and left the scene walking toward East 123rd Street, where she sat down on a sidewalk screaming.

"She was on the sidewalk holding the baby, just saying, 'Save my kids, save my kids,'" said Shannon Tyburski.

Police say the 2-year-old died from her wounds. The 1-year-old was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital with what was described as non life-threatening injuries.

Black was taken into custody near East 123rd and Soika Avenue, then transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with a hand injury.

Neighbors say what they witnessed late Thursday was uncharacteristic of Black, who seemed to be very protective of her children.

"She was a decent mom," said Otae Watkins, who says he took popsicles to the children just the day before.

"She was there, didn't leave them alone or nothing," said Watkins.

Swain was also transported to a local hospital, where police say she was later pronounced dead. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office on Friday ruled that she died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
