CLEVELAND– Police are investigating after they said a woman took a car with an 8-year-old boy inside.
It all began when a man stopped at a convenience store on Woodland near Sophia around 2 p.m.
The man left the child in the car while he went inside.
That’s when, police said, the woman got inside the car and took off.
The man called police and an off-duty Cleveland police officer heard the broadcast and spotted the vehicle.
The officer, identified as Cleveland Patrol Officer Dylan Demas, followed the car and kept police updated.
At that point, police said Fourth District officers located the vehicle and took over following the suspect.
The vehicle was stopped in the area of Canal and Granger in Valley View.
Police said the boy was not hurt and he was reunited with the man, who is his legal guardian.
The 28-year-old female suspect was tasered, then arrested.
There was some damage to the car from the suspect striking guardrails and other objects.
Police remind people to never leave a child alone in a car.
