Arrest made after windows smashed out at several downtown Cleveland businesses

CLEVELAND, Ohio — One person was arrested after windows at a number of buildings and businesses in downtown Cleveland were shattered overnight.

Police reports state that around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers responded to the 2000 block of East 9th Street to reports of a man throwing rocks and breaking out windows.

Once on scene, police say Gary Bethea, 31, came up to officers and said “It was me. Here I am.” He then sat down and told police he needed help. He was placed under arrest and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At least three windows were smashed at CLE Clothing Company. Windows were also smashed out at Prospect Music, CVS and Medical Mutual.

Bethea faces a charge of vandalism.
