CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The West Side Market is all cleaned up and ready for business after last month's fire.

Vendors were back inside the market Friday putting the finishing touches on their stations and stocking up for their long-awaited reopening set for Monday.

"We are ecstatic that the market is finally opening on Monday. We miss everyone. We miss our market family. We miss our customers," said vendor Minnie Zarefoss.

Minnie and Mark Zarefoss run Jim's Meats at West Side Market.

They said after being out of business for more than two weeks, they are happy to see the market reopen.

The couple said they've lost thousands of dollars in business and product since the fire on January 30 that closed down the landmark marketplace.

"It's depressing to even think about it. The waste of everything that's been thrown away. It's terrible. It's a shame. We'll be back. We'll bounce back from this," said Mark Zarefoss.

More than two weeks ago, fire broke out inside the market and burned two meat stands that are still closed off and under repair.

Crews have worked around the clock to clean the soot and smoke damage throughout the building so health inspectors would give vendors the thumbs up to reopen.

"The health inspectors came through again and gave us the OK, and we have our sign up that we are able to sell product," said Minnie Zarefoss.

Not only are the vendors excited, but the shoppers are, too. They said they can't wait to get back in there.

"I come every week twice a week sometimes. I've been coming ever since I was a little kid. My mom used to bring me here as a little kid, so I've been coming for 40 years. Looking forward to opening back up," said David Coury, of Bay Village.

Fox 8 was allowed inside the market Friday afternoon, and the place looked like new. Vendors continued to clean up and polish their areas plus restock their goods for Monday's business.

The 100-year-old landmark is scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Monday.
