CLEVELAND – If you take I-77 or I-71 north to get downtown, you’ll have to make a detour this weekend as road closures to finish up construction started Friday morning.
I-71 north closed at 10 a.m. Friday for one last complete closure of the road. I-77 will close at 7 p.m. Friday evening. Both roads are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.
Crews on I-71 will resurface the bridge that carries I-71 over the Jennings Freeway at the Metro Curve. Crews on I-77 will pave the approaches to the newly re-decked bridge just north of I-480.
Drivers should use State Route 76 (the Jennings Freeway) north to I-490 east to I-77 north to reach Downtown Cleveland.
The Ohio Department of Transportation promises that this is the final weekend needed to close both roadways.
In addition, the State Route 21, Brecksville Road, ramp to I-77 north will also close from 9 p.m. Friday evening through 6 a.m. Monday. Motorists should follow the posted detours.
