WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS - One can lead a life destined for the despair and destruction, or take the steps towards a positive change. That was the message for hundreds of area young people at the Cycle Breakers Conference held at Tri-C East Friday.

It was the second year Fox 8 News in the Morning Anchor Wayne Dawson and his brother, East Cleveland Municipal Judge William Dawson, put on the conference through the Annie L. Dawson Foundation. Their mother believed in the benefits of a strong education.

“The reason we are successful today is because of the confidence instilled in us. And, because of the fact that she put education in us. She told us that knowledge was the key to success," Wayne Dawson said.

To that: add inspiration and motivation. "I want kids to know that even if you start off rocky, you make mistakes you can still break that cycle,” Judge Dawson added.

Former Cavalier Campy Russell spoke of overcoming obstacles and that success doesn't just happen. "You can always learn. There's always an opportunity out there for you. It's just a matter of how much and what are you willing to do," he said.

The motivational speakers hit a chord with student Roger Rice. “Just learning from them, I understand in life you have to set goals and you have to be a positive person and have a positive mindset in order to achieve what you want."

Just like driving and coming to the fork in the road, it comes down to making good choices. That is what Mike Lally from Tim Lally Chevrolet shared. "Recognizing the right decision and realizing sometimes it might be harder, but the payoff is so huge. And, making the wrong decision is the one that is going to lead you in a real bad path," he said.

Tim Lally Chevrolet donated $10,000 to the Annie L. Dawson Foundation to continue to fund positive programs like this one. "We really believe in what Wayne and Will do. And I think that the more we can reach the community and reach community early, it makes a big difference,” Lally said.
