AKRON, Ohio – A water main break in Akron shut down a portion of High Street early Monday.
Just after 2 a.m., water was shooting 40 feet in the air.
High Street was closed from E. Market to E. Mill for several hours while crews made repairs.
The break was an 8 inch main.
Akron Water Department workers say they hope to have the water main fixed later Monday morning. Water did get inside the John S. Knight Center, however, cleanup crews have been working all night and there does not appear to be major damage.A look under S High Street in Akron at the broken water main.
