Personnel have rescued 101 people from rubble in metropolitan Oklahoma City after a tornado hit the area Monday, Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management representative Terri Watkins said Tuesday morning.
Among the rescued, was Barbara Garcia.
She told CBS News that she has always prepared for a tornado to hit her area. But when the twister actually tore through her neighborhood, she didn’t have time to react.
Buried under the debris, she called out for her dog, only to hear silence.
Then, amazingly, while she was doing an interview with CBS News, one of the crew members spotted the pooch trapped under the rubble.
To everyone’s surprise, the dog emerged alive and seemingly unhurt.
“Well, I thought God had just answered one prayer to let me be okay. He answered both of them,” Garcia said.
