AKRON, Ohio — The man wanted in Saturday’s road rage murder has surrendered to police.
Police say 27-year-old Chauncy Travis turned himself in to authorities around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Travis is being booked into jail, and is expected to be arraigned in court Thursday morning.
Travis was wanted on a charge of murder and two counts of felonious assault.
Police say that shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, Travis was involved in a road rage incident on Kelly Avenue and Rosemary Boulevard, with Tyler Shamburger, 18, of Akron.
Following an argument, Travis allegedly fired multiple shots at Shamburger’s vehicle, striking Shamburger in the torso.
Shamburger’s vehicle then struck a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two 17-year-old male passengers in Shamburger’s vehicle were not injured.
The suspect fled the scene. Police released Travis’ photo and description to the public Wednesday morning.
