ROTTERDAM, N.Y.  — All Safyre Terry wanted for Christmas was Christmas cards. After getting more than 1 million of them, police have now charged a volunteer for stealing from the 8-year-old girl.

Safyre lost her family and suffered burns in an arson in 2013; Katy Perry and Beyonce even sent her cards and gifts.

According to ABC News, 41-year-old Kimberly Bradford volunteered with Safyre’s organization to send responses to those who sent cards.

Police say Bradford stole nearly $1,300 in cash and gift cards. Although volunteers were not supposed to take mail home, officers found $800 in cash and about $550 in gift cards at her home after another volunteer became suspicious about theft.

She was charged with grand larceny and is back in court on March 10.
