CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is investigating after a fight between a passenger and a bus driver was caught on video and published to YouTube.

On Friday, RTA spokesperson Mary Shaffer confirmed the bus driver's name is Artis Hughes.

Hughes said he was assaulted by a rider, Shidea Lane, 25, on Sept. 18.

Another passenger recorded the moments leading up to the time when Hughes can be seen punching Lane.

The tape shows a verbal dispute which leads to Lane approaching Hughes.

The video does not show exactly what she did to him, but moments later, it does show Hughes get up and punch Lane in the face, knocking her to the ground.

A statement released on Friday from RTA read:

"RTA saw the video posted on YouTube of the operator incident on October 11. Through the investigation, we believe the incident occurred on Sept. 18. Upon identifying the driver, he was immediately suspended and removed from duty. His behavior is absolutely unacceptable. RTA apologizes to our customers for this incident. A full investigation continues."

At the time of this report no charges had been filed.
