SANTA ANA, Calif. — Hidden cameras show officers appearing to eat marijuana-laced “edibles” and playing darts during a raid on a marijuana shop in Santa Ana.
KTLA reports that Sky High Holistic is a medical marijuana dispensary, but does not have a permit. The raid was conducted last month.
Video of the raid was captured by surveillance cameras in the shop, and there was also a hidden camera set up before the operation. The video shows at least eight officers burst into the shop with their guns drawn, forcing customers and employees to the floor.
The officers then took down the cameras mounted on the ceiling before appearing to break off and eat pieces of the food sold in the store. Other officers proceeded to play darts.
A Long Beach-based attorney plans to file a lawsuit alleging gross mistreatment on behalf of Marla James, a woman with an amputated leg. She was in the store in her wheelchair at the time of the raid.
The police department is also conducting an internal investigation.
Police Commander Chris Revere told KTLA:
“We’re obviously concerned about the conduct that we saw in the edited video. We’re also concerned that the video was heavily edited. We’d like to see the original video in its unedited version.”
Revere also told KTLA he “couldn’t say for certain” the officers were consuming pot edibles in the video.
