WEST CAPE MAY, NJ — A courageous police officer says he doesn’t think of himself as a hero after he pulled an unconscious driver from a flaming truck.

Monday, Patrolman Scott Krissinger spotted a truck engulfed in flames, according to ABC News. Krissinger didn’t hesitate as he raced towards the vehicle.

He says when he opened the driver’s side door, smoke rushed towards him. He was able to reach in and drag the unconscious driver, Gerald Ferrill, 61, to safety.

Ferrill remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to ABC News.
