Victim identified in deadly crash on Cleveland’s west side

CLEVELAND-New information is being released after a deadly crash on Cleveland’s west side.

Cleveland police said shortly after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, a juvenile, who was driving a stolen 2001 Chevy TrailBlazer, was going westbound on Guthrie Avenue at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Guthrie and West 73rd and struck a Lexus RX.   The Chevy then went through a fence on Madison Avenue, struck a metal shed and flipped over.  The 16-year-old driver, Isiah Grimmett, was partially ejected from the vehicle and killed.

His passenger suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.

The driver of the Lexus, a 56-year-old man, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
