COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio Attorney General’s Office says Verizon and Sprint customers are running out of time to claim their share of more than $120 million in the “mobile cramming” settlements.
Users who experienced unauthorized third-party charges starting in July 2010 have until Dec. 31 to submit a claim.
“If your Verizon or Sprint cell phone bill was higher than expected in the last few years, you may be entitled to a refund,” Attorney General DeWine said in a news release on Tuesday. “Hundreds of thousands of Ohioans were estimated to qualify under these settlements.”
According to the attorney general’s office, these “cramming” fees were usually one-time charges or monthly subscriptions of $9.99 for cell services like ringtones, horoscopes or sports scores.
