PERRYSVILLE, Ohio – Searchers began a new day of efforts to find a 16-year-old boy who disappeared in the waters of a spillway near Pleasant Hill Lake after trying to rescue a friend from those waters.

It began just after 6 p.m. Friday when  a 14-year-old girl jumped a fence to swim in an area where the water was high and running fast. The current pulled the girl back towards the spillway so two other teens jumped in to save her.

The body of one of those teens, a 16-year-old girl, was later found about a mile downstream. The boy is the other teen who is still missing.  All three teens are friends and are from the area.

The river southeast of the dam runs through the Mohican Memorial State Forest.
